Notebook, 1853-1858.

Consists of German spelling test exercises dated from Dec. 4, 1853 to Feb. 12, 1854 along with ten letters written by Steidle in January of 1858. The letters were addressed to friends and teachers and included such topics as family news, job prospects, and the death of a girl. The writings were done in a composition book with wood cut panels illustrating the life of Martin Luther on the front and back covers.
